Alkaline Water

Alkaline elements can be found in alkaline water. It is also less acidic and has a higher pH than normal drinking water. Proponents think it has benefits such as improving bowel movements and boosting the immune system, but research is limited.

What exactly is alkaline water?
You may have heard of different health benefits associated with alkaline water. According to some, it can help slow the aging process, regulate your body’s pH level, and avoid chronic illnesses such as cancer.

But what precisely is alkaline water, and why is it so popular?

The term “alkaline water” alludes to its pH level. A pH level is a number that, on a range of 0 to 14, indicates how acidic or alkaline a substance is.

Something with a pH of 1 is very acidic, whereas something with a pH of 13 is very alkaline.

Regular water vs alkaline water
The pH level of alkaline water is higher than that of normal drinking water. As a result, some proponents of alkaline water think it can neutralise the acid in your body.

The pH of normal drinkable water is usually 7. The pH of alkaline water is usually 8 or 9. However, pH alone is insufficient to give significant alkalinity to water.

Alkaline water must have alkaline ions as well as a negative oxidation-reduction potential. (ORP). ORP refers to water’s ability to function as a pro- or antioxidant. The lower the ORP number, the more antioxidizing the substance.

Benefits of Alkaline Water :

  • pro-aging properties (via liquid antioxidants that absorb more quickly into the human body)
  • colon-cleansing properties
  • immune system support
  • hydration, skin health, and other detoxifying properties
  • weight loss
  • cancer resistance
